A soaking tub is built for depth, so this page sorts every Badeloft tub by the number that decides your soak: depth to overflow, the deepest the water gets before it drains away. All 27 are freestanding stone resin tubs, 47.2 to 74.8 inches long, holding 62 to 140 gallons, from $3,290.
Pick your posture first, then your length.
- Sit upright in 20 inches or more: the 47.2-inch BW-08-S fills to 23.4 inches and has a built-in seat, and the BW-06-S fills to 20.8 inches. Both are in our Japanese soaking tubs.
- Lie back in 16 to 17 inches: the BW-12, BW-10-XL, BW-11, BW-08, BW-09 and BW-01-XXL give the deepest recline, from 61 to 75 inches long.
- Lie back in 13 to 16 inches: most of the line, from the 55.1-inch BW-02-S up to the 72.8-inch BW-01-XL.

What makes a tub a soaking tub?
Depth. A soaking tub holds enough water to cover your shoulders when you lie back or sit up, and the useful measure is depth to overflow, not rim height. Every Badeloft tub is a freestanding stone resin soaking tub, with 13.1 to 23.4 inches of water at the overflow.
How deep should a soaking tub be?
For lying back, 14 to 17 inches of water to the overflow covers most adults. For sitting upright, look for 20 inches or more. No building code sets a soaking depth, so match the tub to how you like to sit. Our soaking tub buying checklist covers depth, length, hot water and weight.
Which Badeloft soaking tub is the deepest?
The BW-08-S. It is 47.2 inches long, fills to 23.4 inches at the overflow and has a seat 7.5 inches above the tub floor. Among the reclining tubs, the BW-12 is deepest at 17.0 inches.
How much water does a soaking tub hold?
Badeloft tubs hold 62 to 140 gallons. You fill about 70% of that with hot water, so check your water heater: the 140-gallon BW-01-XXL needs about 98 gallons of hot water, the 62-gallon BW-02-S about 43.
How heavy is a soaking tub when it is full?
Badeloft tubs weigh 240 to 551 pounds empty and about 977 to 1,919 pounds filled to the overflow with a 200-pound bather. On a wood-framed upper floor, have a contractor or structural engineer confirm the floor carries the filled weight. The full soaking tub weight guide lists every model.
