A freestanding bathtub is a soaking tub that stands independently on the bathroom floor without being mounted against walls or enclosed in an alcove. It connects only to a drain and water supply, giving you complete freedom in placement and bathroom layout.

Alcove tubs are practical for tight spaces and shower/tub combos, but they limit design options and typically offer shallower soaking depth. Stone resin is widely considered the best material for a freestanding bathtub. It retains heat 30-40% longer than acrylic, resists scratches and stains without gel coats, weighs significantly less than cast iron, and maintains its finish for decades. Unlike acrylic, stone resin is solid throughout, so minor surface damage can be sanded and buffed out rather than requiring a full refinish.
