10 Blissful Bathroom Trends to Taking Over 2017

Table of contents

Bathroom trends come and go. For 2017, the following trends are heating up.

    1) STONE AND MATERIALS

Who says stone is for the kitchen and porcelain for the bathroom? Imagine a beautiful stone resin sink or a polished mineral bench next to a 60-inch freestanding bathtub. Other ideas include a marble or granite countertop with a glass vessel sink. Add in stone resin sinks and tubs and the possibilities become both endless and stunning.

    2) TALL BOY BATHROOM VANITIES

Did you know that standard bathroom vanities are shorter and shallower than kitchen cabinets? Vanity manufacturers have started introducing “tall boy” bathroom vanities which raise the height from 34 to 36 inches.

    3) GREENERY

What’s more natural than a plant? Greenery in the bathroom is making a comeback. While an elegant potted bamboo plant will fit right in if space allows, consider adding an indoor garden to your bathroom.

    4) OIL RUBBED BRONZE METAL AND METAL IN GENERAL

Oil rubbed bronze is simply lovely, and metals, in general, are a hot trend right now. If you’re looking for a warmer metal appearance than chrome, the deep rich texture of oil rubbed bronze is sure to appeal.

    5) A TOUCH OF WHIMS

Perhaps it’s the Pinterest effect, but a touch of whimsy to the bathroom is hard to resist. We’ve seen everything from candy-striped wallpaper to pink elephants and purple frogs. Try not to go too crazy, but feel free to surprise and delight your guests with a whimsical touch.

    6) HANDS-FREE FAUCETS

Long a staple in public restrooms, hands-free faucets are making their way to the home. Look for luxurious “touch free” designs that look gorgeous, save water, and stay cleaner longer.

    7) REVOLVING CABINETS

Open cabinets in the bathroom can be lovely until you start stashing stuff you actually use in them. What if you could have the best of both worlds — easy access and a clean, uncluttered look? Vitra’s Piu-Due collection has some neat revolving cabinets that spin to reveal their contents and then rotate back into position to hide the opening against the wall.

    8) METAL TILE

We’ve seen a lot of creative tile design over the years, and metal tile is simply stunning. Dal Tile’s Metal Fusion tile has tile granules embedded in the tile, creating a metallic shimmer that is simply irresistible. Consider using as accent tiles in flooring, shower enclosures or backsplashes.

    9) TILE AS ARTWORK

Floral tile designs, mosaics, unusual tile patterns with contrasting grout, or a few well-placed, hand-painted tiles can be simply mesmerizing. Do those options feel too bold? Consider bamboo-inspired tiles such as Walker Zanger’s 24-inch Mizu Umi bamboo tiles.

    10) SELF-CLEANING TOILETS

No one likes to clean toilets, which is why self-cleaning toilets may catch your fancy. The Optum VorMax, for example, features EverClean surfaces and a flushing system that cleans under the rim.
